we want to throw out some bits and pieces in advance of our house move

old pc doesn't work - can it just go to the tip?

and what about monitor, speakers etc?

they usually have a special section at the tip

but they can also be recycled refurbished which is better

My Dad gave me a big lecture about this last week. It seems there are big problems with just throwing out or recycling your pc.

The short version of the story is nasty people take out your hard drive and even if you have wiped the data, can still access confidential data and use it to be baddies.

However you dispose of it, take out your hard drive and whack it with a hammer many times or put a few nails through it so it is unreadable.
