Breastfeeding/Eating Out in Bristol

I know that this is a narrow subject but are there any Mums out there that know of cafes/restaurants in Bristol that support breastfeeding in their establishments? I have a 10 day old dd and would like to start going out with her and dh for a bite to eat etc.
I ask the question partially as this is my first baby and am keen to start public breastfeeding in a supportive environment but also because I would like to support establishments that support us new Mums!

Where in Bristol? I would have thought you'd be ok in most of Bristol, it's that kind of place.

the city farm cafe is very laid back and full of mums with babies - i think they'd have a mutiny if anyone dared object.

Association for Breastfeeding Mothers should be able to help.
Look at their website or ring

Hope you eventually feel confident enough to do it everywhere and anywhere!!

Be brave and just do it anywhere. I did and never once experienced opposition.

I think Dumbledore is right - noone would dare complain these days even if they didn't like it.

If you feel self-conscious take a pashima -like scarf with you

I've BF pretty much everywhere and no one has batted an eyelid (even BFing my 2.5 year old).

What sort of places do you usually go to? If i've done the business there i'll let you know

WestCountryLass · 26/11/2006 18:13

Yep, or drape a muslin over your shoulder.

I bf quite a lot round Bristol and never had any problems.

Also tip - if you go to Bristol Zoo they have a baby feeding room with a couple of comfy chairs, radiator changing mat and sink. IS very nice in there but hidden and they don't seem to like telling people about it. IS down the side of the big function room, but if you can't find it ask and they may tell you (nice to hide out in if weather turns manky).

My advice would be to go where you want to go for a bite to eat and BF there. I BF pretty much anywhere, including walking around town, and didn't give a monkeys what other people thought, I was always descreet. Only ever had one comment and that was off a little old woman who came up to me and said "good for you girl, you don't see enough of that nowadays"! made me
