Horrified at the stupidity of some people

While I was visiting dh in hospital yesterday, they had to get one bloke out of the toilets as he was smoking in there (again). To put this in perspective the ward is full of very ill people, many on oxygen lines! He could have set the place on fire, stupid idiot!

He then roundly abused the nurse for being late with his meds (she wasn't) Poor woman was in tears, and this isn't the first time either.

What an arsehole! people shouldn't have to put up with shit like this. Even the male doctors are scared of this guy. Horrific.

The staff are so kind, and helpful, no-one should be treated like this, least of all them

My Mum (a nurse) has a way with patients like this (she gives as good as she gets). Vile bully probably gets his kicks from making nurses cry. Does the hospital have a policy on anti-social behaviour- our local hospital is very strict on it (they'll ban people and refuse to treat them so they have to go to another hospital). It can be a good threat in gettig people to behave.

Glad your dh is home this weekend mb.

I think the hospital fire in Warrington was started by a patient smoking in bed.

misdee · 25/11/2006 08:37

some people are just selfish tw*ats with no thoughts for others. i'll deck him, i'm not scared of anyone (well except my arsehole of neighbours)

Blandmum · 25/11/2006 08:39

They do have a policy, but because this guy is very ill, they keep taking him back in!

The nurse is on the brink of leaving over it

My policy would be one warning and out! The twat made his bed, he can bloody lie on it!

Off to do xmas shopping at warps speen this morning. MIL has the kids and will keep an eye on dh!

Wish me luck

Can the nurse refuse to treat him? Surely the hospital can't afford to lose good nurses.

Make sure you sit down for a coffee or something while you're xmas shopping. Glad your lovely MIL is still there. xxx

Poor nurse. My Mum was in hospital recently, and was on a mixed ward and there was a horrible old man there too who was abusive to the staff. Mum gave him a good dressing down and told him to lay off the nurses. Yay Mum!

Jimjams2 · 25/11/2006 08:49

oh I thought warps speen was a place! Durr! Just realised you mean warp speed. DO take 5 mins for a coffee, as soon as you get back in it'll be all on you again (even with lovely MIL) and thhose 10 mins out and for yourself make all the difference!

MB...that bloke wouldn't be the first idiot....I remember hearing a bloke setting his own bed on fire , smoking under his duvet, whilest being on Oxygen....don't get any more stupid than that, I say!
Grrr at moronic patients though...luckily they are a rareity...but there will always be ssome, eh!

WestCountryLass · 25/11/2006 22:01

The world is full of a*seholes like him unfortunately

Smurfgirl · 25/11/2006 22:07

Oh some of the patients are knobs. They think because you have a uniform on and are at work you are immune to all nasty comments etc Heard a patient referring to me to his family (whilst I was NEXT to them) as 'the fat young one' knobs.

Loads of people smoke in the loos now my trust has banned smoking on hospital grounds.

Fattymumma · 25/11/2006 22:09

it just goes to show just how brilliant these people are. still prepared to treat a patient that abuses them all day long.

there really shuld be more in place to prevent this kind of abuse.

WestCountryLass · 25/11/2006 22:38

Lets face it, anyone who thinks smoking in a hospital is a good idea has got to be bit dense, let alone anyone being treated for chronic illness (runs off to hide...)...
