Am desperate for a babysitter but have only ever left my dds with grandparents before. Please let me know your experiences of sitters.co.uk or any other babysitting services you have used.

Hi blackandwhitecat.
I haven't used sitters myself but have a friend who uses them regularly and finds it a good service. she has had a few different ladies come to sit and now requests the same lady each time as she is most comfortable with her.

my neighbours have used sitters on and off for many years....they have always been pleased...we now try and do a baby sitting circle between us, which is free !!

You might find this thread useful about sitters.

Sitters are fab ime. A friend works for them and says their checking is VERY thorough. Everyone has to be a registered childminder or nanny. I have only once had someone I didn't like so I told them and she didn't come agani (she used my PC without asking, which I thought was rude).

You register, then pay a quarterly fee (£12 I think, could be wrong though) and a £4 fee everytime you book. It's worth it, they sort it out and text you on the day to remind you you're going out. If you like a sitter they try them first. They text to confirm when they've got someone and the sitter calls you an hour before hand to confirm she's coming. Totally fab service imo and e.

Thanks all. This is reassuring. We'll give it a go and I'll let you know how it goes.

Sitters can be useful if you don't mind having a different babysitter each time - though they will try to arrange the same person each time, they can not guarentee it.

As your dds have not been left with anyone except grandparents before, if they are under 5, then you may feel more confident having the same babysitter each time. For that you will need to look locally for say a Nanny who would do occasional evening babysitting, or a local agency, rather than using a national agency.

As you have decided to give Sitters a try, do please post your experience of how your first time using the service went.
