Right, I am about to move halfway up France and everything is booked; removals car hire, deposit paid on rental and landlord booked flights to move us. We can't stay here because we have no hot water or heating. This move HAS to happen.

What with the landlady here cashing my deposit cheque two months early and cutting off our water, etc (other thread) we are not going to have the money we need by 1st December - more like the 9th December. Too late. Can't move without it though.

I have managed to book some sleep training work in the UK in for 3rd Dec but even that is too late in terms of having money in my account.

Can't borrow because sister, etc. has maxed her cards on xmas shopping, etc. etc. Don't particularly want to borrow, I have arms, legs and brain surely I can raise it?

Supposed to be packing but I cannot function with this hanging over me.

Please help me find a way to get about 300 pounds in my account ASAP. Any money spinners you know of TELL ME please! I have no crap to sell either.

I can't do 3000 questionnaires either because, like I say, I am supposed to be packing!

I won't sell my body (besides, I have my AF) or my soul but other than that...

Really, flippancy aside, I desperately need a brainwave.

Have you talked to your bank? If it's just short term an overdraft (or a bigger one?) or low interest credit card should get you cash soon enough. Then you can move the balance around to different cards on interestfree blanace transfer and so you can pay the minimum and it actually makes a dent in the debt. Ask Martin Lewis , he's the man!

I am just mentally listing my 'skills' so thought I'd share in case it helps.

I can paint and draw.
I can write good letters - especially complaining ones
I can cook alright
Sleeptraining, obviously
I can look after animals
I can add up, take away
OH can do websites but it takes him half a century
He can do good photography too
I can make xmas cards

Quite a few other skills like teaching and being a nobber but they aren't really applicable due to time factor...

God, I must be very unimaginative, or else too busy. I'd be ringing the bank asking for a temp increase on my overdraft! Probably not what you want to hear.

Owt to sell on ebay??

southeastastra · 23/11/2006 20:35

go to charity shops and flog british things to foreigners on ebay

nannyme · 23/11/2006 20:37

Sorry to pee on a good idea but bank don't like me anymore.

They said (to paraphrase) "we liked you when we let that cheque go out to your [bitch] of a landlord but that kinda took you waaaay over your overdraft and even though your overdraft is in sight now it was quite bad for a few weeks so we don't like you anymore and WILL NOT lend you any money. Sorry we charged you for letting you go over your overdraft, we'll refund the charge but you can't have any more. Sorry"

and then, they took my loan payment on Monday for the previous month which I missed because of whole big cheque cashing fcuk up so I am now 288 pounds 'down'. great.

Vvvv good idea that, could get some French antiquities and flog, but slightly risky (?) and will not necessarily make money back in time.

i reckon an overdraft from the bank is the easiest option... esp as its only for a few days!

Rantum · 23/11/2006 20:40

IF you are definitely going to get the money, but not in time, perhaps a low interest credit card or American express, if you repay it within the month you probably wouldn't pay any or much interest

Rantum · 23/11/2006 20:41

do you have nice hair - could you sell that?

nannyme · 23/11/2006 20:44

I don't know if I'd be allowed a card. I have a history of no-money-ness. I am the only wage earner in our family, we don't get many good points with credit card companies.

Could try though.

Sorry, I knew this was probably impossible

Dog walking?
Babysitting?
Wrapping Xmas presents for people?

Sell a kidney?

nannyme · 23/11/2006 20:47

If I was in England this would be a darn sight easier.

That said, if I was in England I'd need 900 quid not 300!

Dh has just told me that the insurance company have been insuring our old house which we finally sold sometime last spring - we only found out that they hadn't changed the insurance policy last week. We are getting something like £100 back from our premium. It made me think: you haven't got an insurance policy eg on the house you are living in now, that you could cancel and claim a refund on, have you?

collision · 23/11/2006 20:50

where are you nannyme?

Rantum · 23/11/2006 20:51

Could you try selling french coffee on ebay or something - french non-perishable food might be a possibility - don't know how much you could make though - what about photographs of france to tourists? Or french children's clothes if you have any that have not been worn? Anything french methinks. But 300 could be tough.

nannyme · 23/11/2006 20:55

DD'sg 'fraid not.

rantum - will investigate Ebay possibilities

collision - I'm in Poitou Charentes

My best but shit idea is to have an online sleep consult day where it is £1 a question. Already have a website but would this just make me look very crap and unprofessional? I have a good reputation even though I am not as 'big' as the London sleep clinics so I really don't want to ruin this.

Not even sure how to market it rapidly.

Does anyone look at the ads on here.

Second best idea is to offer xmas portraits. Again could advertise here but, same question as above, re. mumsnet ads and also has everyone done their xmas shopping?

Can you get yourself a credit card?

Callisto · 23/11/2006 21:08

Ah, just read you're in France. OK how about re-writing/typing theses?

nannyme · 23/11/2006 21:14

Callisto, I can do that!

Is there a site or something?

Getting hopeful now...
