Bond Street (short walk from Oxford Street, 3 stops to waterloo.

I'm treating dd to a day out ,she's really keen to go on london cab for some reason.

20-3omins ish depending on time of day and number of short-cuts cab driver knows.

I'd get the bus for the excellent river views, and save the cab to get back to the station, when you are worn out! About 20 minutes is about right, depends on the traffic though.
