Dh has seen a watch he really wants and Ive said I would buy it for him for his birthday (its £150). I expected for us to go together to get it but he found a shop close to where his birthmum lives and went to see her today and decided to go shopping with her instead and purchased the watch - he now just wants me to give him the money. im a bit pissed to be honest

Yes I'd be pissed

I can understand how you are feeling. Giving the money for some to buy themselves a gift is bad enough but when they have already bought it just seems wrong. I think some men underestimate the emotional side of present giving and receiving. My dh thinks it is acceptable to give me money at xmas because it is what he would want and as long as it is a nice sum.

No, don't give the greedy little sod the money. Buy him a £10 book token instead. Running around spending your money on himself without permission is Not On.

Cheeky, IMO.

I'd be very pissed off if DH did that. Tell him you've changed your mind and have thought of something else to buy him. Or tell him to get his birth mother to pay for it.

How about:

"Oh, that's lovely your mum bought it for you!!!"

"So, darling, have a little think about what I can get you instead."

Cheeky bugger!
