Garden party (more adults than children....!) - luckily weather held.....my top tip for a birthday cake - lots of fairy cakes piled together with a candle on top....kids get to choose which cake they want - they loved it!

Blackduck - how old is ds? I haven't yet thrown a b'day party for dd, and she is 3. Think it will be unavoidable next year, and must admit to a slight sense of dread......how many children were invited?

Ds was one.....so I really didn't feel guilty about adults out numbering children (it was partly a birthday party and partly an excuse to throw an early summer bash...). Children - 10 in total (brothers and sisters kids and friends from work...) - age range nearly 1 to 11.....
