If you went to a Remembrance Sunday parade - would you find it inappropriate for a German mother to take part in it?

There's a parade locally this Sunday.
Just wanted to make sure I wouldn't get any looks if I went along with the dd's (the Rainbows are taking part, that's why I'm thinking about it).

of course not! the british legion recognise german graves and leave poppies on them too.

lorina · 10/11/2006 14:43

Everyone will be very welcome

Blandmum · 10/11/2006 14:45

no, i don't think it would be at all, in fact quite the contrary!

Absolutely not. Lives were lost on both sides by men who were serving their country. I think it will show unity.

TheDivineLiliLaTigresse · 10/11/2006 14:48

emkana I would find it great

lemonaid · 10/11/2006 14:49

I wouldn't find it inappropriate at all.

tamum · 10/11/2006 14:52

I think it would be lovely, and I'd be horrified if anyone found it inappropriate to be honest.

yeahinaminute · 10/11/2006 15:19

No it would not be inappropriate - Rememberance Sunday is just that - to remember ALL who served and fell in ALL wars not just WW1 and WW2 - please go!!

Greensleeves · 10/11/2006 15:20

Agree with tamum, I would be disgusted if anyone found it inappropriate. Definitely go.

harpsichordcarrier · 10/11/2006 15:23

emkana I am tempted to go whaaaat?!?! and I hope you will take that in the spirit it is intended.
of course not, of COURSE not in the least inappropriate.

doggiesayswoof · 10/11/2006 15:24

No, not inappropriate at all. The whole 'remembering' thing is surely much more powerful and meaningful if everyone is remembering - part of the point is to try and make sure something so awful does not happen again.

mamama · 10/11/2006 16:12

No, definitely not inappropriate imho. If it is something you want to do then you definitely should .

Hope the DD's enjoy the parade.

CAMisole · 10/11/2006 16:14

Gosh no, it would be a good thing to do.

bluejelly · 10/11/2006 16:15

Many german conscripts died
I think these events should mark their deaths too

NomDePlume · 10/11/2006 16:16

Absolutely not.

NomDePlume · 10/11/2006 16:16

(absolutely not inappropriate I mean)

CorrieDale · 10/11/2006 16:19

God no. I can't imagine anybody would.

Saturn74 · 10/11/2006 16:19

I agree with everyone else. It is completely appropriate to remember all those who lost their lives, irrespective of nationality.

Of course not - the germans, british, americans alike were all someone's son or daughter and deserve to be remembered as such.
