why do people think that selling things at the door is a good job?

I have had 2 blokes at the door in the past hour trying to sell me stuff - not sure what as they didn't get that far. The second one was quite sweet about the fact that "this wasn't a good time" but the first bloke tutted and stormed off.

I know they are trying to do honest work and everything but does anyone buy from them? Do they have to arrive at tea time/bath time? Would I not go out and buy whatever they've got to sell from a shop if I really wanted it?

Bit puzzled and a bit peed off about it now

were they selling dusters for £3? we used to get them, they said they were unemployed and trying to better themselves and making me feel guilty in the process.

I don't know what they were selling.

I feel bad that they have to do crap jobs like this but then surely there must be better jobs around?

I don't feel guilty for not buying - I don't buy anything like that - double glazing, etc - without actually wanting to buy it in the first place then I'd go and find the best bargain!
