Gift ideas for a baby girl's 1st birthday

Hi there,

I don't have any kids yet and never been to kids' bd party. My very close and dear friend has invited me to her daughter's 1st bd party. Could anyone give me some nice ideas what kind of gifts would be appropriate? Happy to spend under £50.

My Birthday Book : A Keepsake Journal by Amy Krouse Rosenthal - It's on Amazon. It is an American book, so does have a few Americanisms, bur it's basically a record book of all their birthdays up until age 18, with bits to fill in as they grow and little interview pages to complete with them.

On Ebay, at the moment, someone is selling the Tolo Teatime Shape Sorter for £7.99 plus it is on a 3 for the price of 2 offer with loads of other toys. It is a shape sorter but doubles up as a teaset.
Have not given my son his yet but I am sure he will love it. Can you tell he LOVES shape sorters?!
