I need a rant!
Round here we have what are called easy access buses, so that wheelchairs and pushchairs can be wheeled on, there are two spaces at the front of the bus for this.
Today i had to visit my sons school and thought id get a bus as i dont drive and its quite a way.
I had Dd with me, she was asleep in her buggy, so i get on this bus and take one buggy space. There was an old man sat in the other space, and another mum got on with a pushchair and he stayed where he was.
She squeezed her pushchair in as best she could but the handle bar was sticking out in the aisle so people had to squeeze by.
Noone else moaned but this old fella sat in the way, he said something about libertys, and putting the pushchair in the aisle.
I turned and said to him" well if you changed seats, she would be able to fit it in"
He then went mad at me telling me these buses arent meant for pushchairs, and if this other lady who had to push past had fallen i would have turned away!
I said "you dont know me, you know nothing about me"
And he said "i know your type"! WTF??
He said to me "thats not a disabled child youve got" And i replied "neither are you"
And he also told me i shouldnt bring her out!

Do old people think that they have the right to talk down to you because they are old? Im a 30 year old woman FFS not a child!
Is a woman with a buggy a second class citizen or something?
My SIL amyjade had this problem last week with people keep moaning about her using the bus.

I know not all old people are like this but he has really annoyed me!
Sorry its so long but am

I know, but the thing was he wasnt just being cantankerous, he was nasty.
He said "if you want to start on me!"and just went on and on, and how did he know Dd isnt disabled? You cant always see it.!

especially when they park in parent and child instead of disabled, yet if it was the other way round they would say something

izzybiz · 03/11/2006 21:06

Exactlly!!
The other day i was trying to get past some old dears chatting in a line taking up the width of the pavement. If that had been pushchairs....
