Hi, Can anyone recommend any piano music/pieces for a player who is around Grade 5 standard? My DD doesn't want to take the grades but the Grade piano books have pieces that don't inspire her. Anything in the popular music world would be good (she plays an Adele piece and a John Legend piece). She also likes playing jazzy pieces. Any inspiration you can offer would be wonderful. Thank you.

Have you ever used any of the Pamela Wedgewood books? She writes for all standards - my DDs love her music - its a little bit jazzy.

New Orleans Jazz Styles by Willam Gillock has a range of different jazz styles that are around grade 4 - 5 level. This book has been set for our local festival and is going down very well with pupils.
She might like books by Elissa Milne, Christopher Norton, Mike Cornick, John Kemble. If you can possibly get to a good music shop, she could have a look at them. Musicroom.com sometimes has preview pages of books that you can look at (and usually lists contents at least).

My DDs have had these sort of books from around that standard - although the do get most music from the Internet now. They also like 'Moon River' which has made a comeback as it features on a TV ad.
