Any Duggar 'fans' out there?

OK, I can't be the only member of the UK to be a leetle bit intrigued by The Duggar family (19 Kids and Counting - TLC for those of you with obscure TV channels) but I'm becoming a bit obsessed waiting for Jill's baby to arrive (overdue already)!

any one else as nosy as me ?

Anna is due to have baby four in July. I watch it sometimes as wrll. Don't agree with the way they raise their kids but do find it interesting.

I think Jana is probably quite shy. I doubt she would be keen on more screen time.
How do Ben and Jessa afford to live on their own? Does Ben have a real job now?

I think they live in a house owned by Grandma and he works for Jim Bob. Jana always seems so sad to me - free Jana!!!

Do we think Jessa is preggo yet?

I hope Jana turns out to be a mumsnetter, discovers this thread and all the concern for her well being.

Sister wives I have only seen the odd episode of and almost have to watch it from behind a cushion because it fascinates and horrifies me in equal measure. I just don't get it.

I always thought he was quite sweet Pippi, really glad Jessa didn't get pregnant immediately after getting married like Jill. Hope they have a bit of fun first!

I feel sorry for Jana too, she slaved over altering the bridesmaid dresses for Jill's wedding when all the other girls were having fun.

I think Josiah is a bit odd.

I've spent a bit of time on Free Jinger. It's fascinating.

The Duggars are utterly odd, and I find it very distasteful that they sell themselves as some sort of super family when actually what weirdo Jim Bob is doing is raising mini wives to be enslaved first of all for him and afterwards for whichever husband he picks out for them. Michelle is just a brainwashed uterus.

It's a fucked up cult run on the repression of women. Very sad and shocking that they should be hailed as celebrities.

One inconsistency that I find galling is the banging on about living debt free when basically a TV company paid for their house materials and loads of people gave their time for free to build it, donated furniture and food to the family, and so on. Practically living off the social, that. So be honest about it.

Other thoughts.

  1. Michelle surely can't breast feed, otherwise the babies would be spaced differently.
  2. Can't help speculating about their sex life frankly. Do we think it's a quick in and out job with a few prayers, or what? (Could ONLY ask that on MN. Asked DH and he told me I was being lurid and nosey, rightly so, but still).

Despise the repression of women this cult promote. There are so many strong, beautiful women in this family all treated like second class subservient slaves.

And they named the baby israel? Wtaf. Of all the biblical names, of all the places in all the world to be named after Israel!

They also have very questionable baby rearing methods.

I bet he stands there in the Duggar equivalent of temple garments saying "May the Lord Open. Let me fill you with my Seed" and then she smiles obligingly while he huffs and puffs for all of 90 seconds. Then he thanks her politely, rolls over and farts or something.

The ultimate roadkill film would be "Duggars make a Porno". As in "Zack and Miri make a Porno".
