Anything I can do about 'dying skin' on thumb which is sucked whilst sleeping

DD (2.6) doesn't suck her thumb much unless she's tired or sleeping

but she has sucked it into a blister on the knuckle .. which has popped and for the last 2 weeks she's had dead skin flaking off it .. both sides in chunks .... (I did cut the worst away)

don't know what to do about it

Vaseline or E45 to moisturise?

Just watch it doesn't get infected, as happened in the pumpkin household.

Unpleasant tasting antiseptic cream (during the day.) My dd's thumb is pretty gross so I stick Germolene on it every now and then (she's 3 btw).
