When I go to sign into msn, in the drop-down menu is my email address. How do I get rid of it?

Ahhh, this is driving me mad! I know it is really simple but I just can't do it. My email address is there permanently. I've removed cookies, internet files, I've turned off the thing that auto-fills passwords and things, but it's still there. I'm borrowing a friends pc and if she sees my email address she'll work out who I am on MN! Which I really don't want because she's really nosy and I've posted some very personal things under a different name to try to keep them personal!

Please help

How about if you highlight it then delete?

schnapps · 26/10/2006 10:37

Not sure which version you are using, but I am using Windows Live Messenger and there is an option to select 'forget me' that deletes your details.

schnapps · 26/10/2006 10:41

It is windows live messenger. when I go to sign in the box that appears says:

sign in with your .NET Passport

That doesn't appear when I'm on my own computer. Think it could be to do with that. I can't see a forget me option.

When you sign out, leave your details there and the 'forget me' option is under 'remember me' in brackets.

schnapps · 26/10/2006 10:46

Nope, when I click on sign out, it automatically signs me out and then a box appears giving me the option of signing in.

I know what you mean though, that's how it is on my computer, but this all looks different. It is still windows live messanger though, wondering if it's a slightly different version.

Oh bum! I don't seem to be able to uninstall it. It's not on my add/remove list in control panel, nor is it an option when I right-click on the icon. Any suggestions?

Finally managed to get my email address from the drop-down list - YAY!

I put 'remove .NET passport' into google and loads of pages came up with guidlines for specifically removing your email address from the drop-down list, so it's obviously a common problem. It was, of course, very easy, just not very obvious how to do it!
