Do you clean your toilet brush?

I rinse mine off in hot water and leave it to dry before putting back in stand. Got me wondering if I should rinse in Milton or something. And then, how often do we clean the cleaners and other stuff:

dishwasher
washing machine
vacuum cleaner
kitchen bins

etc etc.

Maybe I spend too much time on my own Hmm

I use a Duck brush thing that you flush away when you're done leaving just a plastic stick. I don't wash that (except for a swish in the loo).

I clean my dishwasher with a cup of vinegar about once every couple of months, I clean my bins with bleach whenever they're whiffy (about once a fortnight), I've never cleaned my washing machine. The hoover gets the filters cleaned out when it stops picking up, which is about twice a year.

anya here, about a fiver for a kit then £3 or so for 12 replacement heads

anya79 · 26/02/2015 18:34

Oo that looks good ty for link ;)

ChocolateCherry · 03/03/2015 18:13

Same as anya. I just use cheap ones and keep replacing. I rinse them under the water as the toilet flushes and spray them with bleach spray in between change overs though.

ChocolateCherry · 03/03/2015 18:15

Btw Aldi toilet brushes are v good when they have them. They have an extra little sticky-up brush for under the rim.

Fairylea · 03/03/2015 18:19

I buy value ones and replace very often. I don't clean them. I bleach the toilets every day and I figure all the bleach keeps them pretty clean anyway!

vulgarwretch · 03/03/2015 18:24

No, and I don't replace it often either. I am not really that bothered about germs in my toilet.

treaclesoda · 03/03/2015 18:29

I use it to clean the toilet, then sit it in the bleach/toilet cleaner in the toilet for a bit to soak any visible dirt off, then rinse in the flush, shake the water off and put back in the holder. My toilet brush and it's holder are always clean when I go to use it.

My dishwasher I regularly clean by running it with soda crystals and no dishes in (although I do put the dish drainer and extractor fan filters in to clean them at the same time).

Washing machine, don't really clean that one. But I wash towels on a hot wash, so it never gets that musty smell that they get when you only wash at low temperatures.

Vacuum cleaner, dh is obsessive about taking the filter out and washing it, it's like a hobby for him.

dementedpixie · 03/03/2015 18:33

I do the same as you. I figure it must get cleaned a bit by the toilet cleaner itself too

Jellytussle · 30/03/2015 19:59

Someone should make a toilet brush brush for cleaning toilet brushes.

StarshipTroopers · 01/04/2015 08:11

The bog brush sits a bleach and disinfectant combo. Once a fortnight the brush and holders are put in very hot water and bleach in a bucket, then air dried outside.
