When the baby poos in the bath, do you fish it out with your hands or ram it down the plughole?

Which method is best?

misdee · 23/10/2006 22:19

it depends on if its a floater or a bitty one

kid · 23/10/2006 22:19

I'd imagine its best to scoop it out or better still, get DH to scoop it out!

Beauregard · 23/10/2006 22:20

Ewwwwwwww never had this happen with the dd's but i would probably grab it in a flannel ,preferbably dp's,and bin it.

moaningpaper · 23/10/2006 22:21

It's poo stew really with floaters and bits

the flannel approach is not accurate enough, I would be chasing them around for hours

Go fishing with a nappy bag with a little hole in it so it drains.

Misdee is right though - depends on what consistency you're dealing with.

Ah, those were the days.(not)

misdee · 23/10/2006 22:23

empty the bath. do u have flushable wipes? always handy for poo-in-bath incidents.

TinyGang · 23/10/2006 22:23

I think you're looking at re-running the bath and starting again there MP!

moaningpaper · 23/10/2006 22:24

sometimes the logs stuff up the plughole

then I am fishing them out with my fingers

I HATE the feeling of poo on my fingers

The nappy bag idea is GENIUS, TinyGang. I'll be trying that tomorrow

Usually at our place it's hoik out the solid ones, flush the rest down the plug. It is disgusting, isn't it.

TinyGang · 23/10/2006 23:05

Lol! I had hoped to find fame for something a little more glamourous, but glad it helps.

Found that out in desparation when bathing twins who went through a stage of both doing it together.

handlemecarefully · 23/10/2006 23:11

The latter - I think from memory I used a coathanger to dismember the turd to facilitate it's egress down the plug hole

singersgirl · 23/10/2006 23:20

Depends how big it is, IME!

ludaloo · 23/10/2006 23:21

lol!!!!!!!! Fish it out!!!!(with a cup...not your hands!)

"what do you do when your baby poos in the bath and you are in there too??"

Oh yes it happened to me [shock!}

ludaloo · 23/10/2006 23:22

even!

arfishymeau · 24/10/2006 03:17

PMSL! This happened to DP once and I thought he'd dismembered something he was screaming so much.

Poof.

I fished DD out and left him standing one one foot in the corner of the bath screaming 'poo! poo!'

mamamaaargh · 24/10/2006 04:16

PMSL

Happened once to us when ds was a few weeks old. Definitely poo stew, known in our house as a dirty bomb. Have no idea how it was dealt with - hoiked ds out & left DH to deal with the 'stew'. Only returned when all evidence had been removed & a nice clean bath was awaiting us.

ludaloo · 24/10/2006 06:55

lol! I managed to get out before it turned to "poo stew"..... he was quite prone to it (3 now..no recents floaters!!)he did it another time whilst in the bath with dd1...who unfortunately didn't notice til it was far too late
She refused to get in with him for weeks and weeks!

edam · 24/10/2006 07:43

Dh bought a child's fishing net to scoop them out which worked quite well.

edam · 24/10/2006 07:44

Oh, and we stopped sharing a bath with him while this phase was going on...

Clary · 24/10/2006 13:00

who was it whose daughter poohed out a raisin (whole of course) and then ate it! pmsl!

misdee · 24/10/2006 13:01

ewwwwwww.

dd1 only pooed in the bath once i heard a scream turned round and she handed me a huuuge poo.

dd2 was out pooey bath baby. it was always a poo stew type as well. so it was a case of getiing them out ASAP. clean the bath, then refil it to wash the kids again. i refused to bath her in the evenings as she was always doing it then.

hollys1mum · 24/10/2006 14:33

unfortunately holly went through a stage of actually waiting to go til she was in the bath.....with me! it was definately a case of draining the bath, cleaning it and re running it. dp thought it was hilarious until it happened to him. i was rolling on the floor in tears. ah, happy thoughts
