contact the charity of yo choice and they will usually send you lots of information. they will also supply things liek posters, promotional material and some of those buckets to collect money in.

is the event just for you or are you inteding to get other participants??

At the moment i am just planning it for myself as have arranged it in the past with a few other people and it has fallen through, so this time i am determined to do it and raise money for a charity that is personal to me

when my uncle had cancer his freinds all got sponsered to shave their heads....women as well!

they did it for two reasons A) becasue it raised a shed load for cancer research and B) because my uncle didnt feel so out of place you know, like "the guy with cancer" every time they went out becasue they all had bald heads, not just him. I think it was a fab and veryt brave thing to do. it was also very fitting as it was in a large way connected to not just my uncle but to all those under going chemo

Sorry to hear about your uncle, that was such a lovely idea of his friends - i dont think im brave enough! My aunt died 2 years ago on new years day of breast cancer and i think as it gets closer to xmas it makes me think even more. I really want to make some sort of contribution to charity and i know my family will help me raise quite a bit

Sponsored car wash, litter pick, window clean, cake bake ? I always think sponsored walks are kind of pointless even though I've done some. Cook a nice meal and ask people to pay to come and eat it ?

How organised are you? There's still time to rustle up a Christmas shopping evening, either at your home or a church hall. Get reps from Phoenix cards, Pampered Chef, Usborne Books, Virgin Cosmetics as well as googling local craft sellers etc.

Organise a school reunion in a pub and do a raffle/collection (good press for pub too).

Some local mums organised a cake and coffee sale, it went very well. They did it in a park but if you have a nice nursery, school or church hall nearby they may let you have it free if you split the proceeds. It wasn't all homemade cakes either, plenty of shopbought!

Or you could have a ladies' night of your own, make a big dinner and charge your friends a fiver (or more) to come. Buy lots of 3for2 party friozen food if you're not much of a cook.

Do they have a Christmas catalogue? Why don't you order a handful and distribute them to friends and family and do a big combined order to save everyone p&p?
