That really bugs me. Only as an adult you notice things like that i never noticed it when i was younger. I know a few people who do this. Oneday youll bump into them and theyll say hello and maybe a short conversation and the next week youll be across the road and theyll act like they havent seen you and the next time you see them theyll say hello. I think its weird id rather they said heelo or just didnt bother rather than one time teyll speak the next time not. Am i making any sense here?!

yes......i always think that people do that because

they genuinely haven;t seen you
or
are in a bad mood/ in a rush and can't stop to chat!

wouldn't worry too much!

bran · 21/10/2006 13:20

Perhaps they don't see you. I often walk around in a daze, I can look straight at someone and not recognise them if I'm in deep thought or very tired.

2mum · 21/10/2006 13:26

No im not worrying too much! Im just seeing if anyone else notices it!

It annoys me as well.

Don't expect a conversation every time I see someone I know, but it's not exactly taxing to say hello, is it?

2mum · 21/10/2006 13:31

No of course its not a crime. I know one girl who talks to me one day the next time she sees me shell walk right past me but yet look at me at the same time and when i see her again shell start chatting as if nothing happened. Im not slagging off people who are upset or whatever and dont want to talk. Ive had a emotional year myself so im not thinking that way.

Thats what i mean its not a big deal to say hello.

i do give a little wave. but somedays just cant stop and chat.

is it totally ignoring you? thats just rude. i think an aknowledgement of seeing you etc is fine, right?

Kittypickle · 21/10/2006 13:36

I do the not noticing people thing if I think it won't be too obvious sometimes, though smile and say hello if they meet my eye. Purely for the reason that we are a small community and my school run which should take 15 minutes in total often turns into an hour as I end up having several conversations and DH who looks after DS whilst I take DD is supposed to start work at 9am. I wouldn't look straight through someone on purpose though, though have probably done so by accident on a few occasions

DarkAlleyBongo · 21/10/2006 13:38

i hate this too, a wave or a smile would suffice if they are busy.

bran · 21/10/2006 13:42

Well, I find it annoying that people get annoyed at me for petty things that I can't help, like being absorbed in my thoughts. So there! [sticking out tounge emoticon]

foxinsocks · 21/10/2006 13:44

I'm sure I must be like that all the time - I never mean any offence, I'm just often away with the fairies.

I also don't wear my glasses when I'm out walking around so can't really see anyone who isn't closer than about 5 foot.

DarkAlleyBongo · 21/10/2006 13:45

i usually find it worse at chcool gates. Snobby mums will ignore me most of the time, but when the want me to help with a fundraiser, or want dh to design posters and get printing done for free they have all the time in the world for me
