Halloween party games for pre-schoolers?

does anyone have any ideas? My dd is having a halloween party for her 4th birthday. There will be younger children from her pre-school there plus a few 6 yr olds. I'm thinking, apples from a string - race to eat them. Also, maybe, ducking for apples - but less keen on this one cos of water! (potential for drowning PLUS potential mess). Anything else???

For a messy game how about hiding plastic bugs and spiders in some green or purple mashed up jelly? Have a big play mat underneath!

You could make your own pin the nose of the witch.

am thinking pinata?

I took my niece to a halloween party where they had a pass the parcel thing but with a twist every kid got given a sweet and a bucket got passed around when the music stopped you had to put your sweet in the bucket and then sit out the last kid in got the bucket full of sweets.

Not to good if your wary of the kids having to many sweets though.

We did 'forfeits' recently - they have to pull slips of paper from a bag and perform the action described on the slip (hop on one leg, point to something blue, etc). I did one forfeit for each year of their age. Then they get to choose a little prize. It was quite popular - get a confident child to go first, and if they can't do one of the actions they just get to choose another one.

Charlee that is warped, so they started off with sweets and then ended up with no sweets?

(How are you btw, nice to bump into you )

I have an alternative to the jelly - cook loads of spaghetti and add green food colouring - it is "worms" or "intestines" or something, depending on how gross you want to be. I would watch out for the 6 year olds though because they will throw it if allowed.

Hey thanks, some great ideas there. Charlee, don't the kids cry when they have to give up the sweet?! Am thinking, could do it that way, but give them plastic spiders to drop in the bucket. Franny, what do you do in the messy game? Just feel it?

Or do they 'find' the spiders?
