peegeeweegeeWITCH · 20/10/2006 16:38

A hand-made tapestry depicting the concorde hanging over the wall by the sofa

redshoes · 20/10/2006 16:39

That painting of a Spanish lady crying

redshoes · 20/10/2006 16:40

Use the word 'painting' loosely of course

redshoes · 20/10/2006 16:40

Plus freestanding ashtray

those really are hideous aren't they?

erm... a mock Tudor wooden wall with swords on

shazdisembodiedronnie · 20/10/2006 16:55

a sign in the toilet telling the men to "stand closer - it's shorter than you think"

sorrell · 20/10/2006 16:59

'Tudor'-style mullioned window double glazing, stone cladding and UPVC/aluminium front door.
Gravestone chippings in front garden.
Capo di Monte figurines.
Beds with deeply padded and buttoned pink dralon headboards and matching floral duvet cover and curtains, plus built-in cupboards all over the room, including in a row over the bed.
btw love the concorde tapestry. Have you actually seen one?

suedonim · 20/10/2006 20:23

Austrian blinds in peach.

suedonim · 20/10/2006 20:29

And wallpaper in two different patterns with a third patterned border at dado height. A friend has this and the border is supposed to be a scroll but actually looks like doggy bones laid end to end.

Displayed collections of ANYTHING!

Shelves full of Readers Digest Condensed Books and back issues of National Geographic.

Needlepoint pictures in nasty gilt frames.

Carpet that looks as though it belongs in a pub.

Cushioned loo seats or the clear ones with weird plastic fish imbedded in them.

A three piece suite with huge pluffy cushions and exposed wood accents.

Reproduction advertising signs.

A mantlepiece with only a huge slab of marble in place of an opening for a fire of some sort. (I had one of these - I HATED it!).

A ceiling which has turned dark yellow from years of exposure to tobacco smoke.

I'll think of more...

nikkie · 20/10/2006 22:59

fire surrounds with little cupboards for ornaments round the sides

franca70 · 20/10/2006 23:23

failed attempts at minimalism, as if done by linda barker
candles in the fireplace
abuse of the colour beige
duvet cover with japanise letters

Bucketsofbloodydinosaurs · 21/10/2006 09:55

Dolls. Everywhere. Looking at you.

MadamePlatypus · 21/10/2006 10:45

I had forgotten about ashtrays on stands! My granny used to have one. I thought it was very sophisticated. I think I will get one even though none of us smoke.

MadamePlatypus · 21/10/2006 10:51

Dolls and teddy bears on 'display' rather than played with are horrible. bachelor houses that have loads of hifi stuff and black furniture, but a coloured duvet cover that never gets cleaned.
