Bagoflove - I am so so sorry big [[[hugs]]] to you. Heard on the Chris Evans show about this and a minister is trying to sort it out. Sorry I don't know anymore information about it, but I think he is trying to get all members some sort of compensation. I really hope someone else can come a long and give you more info. Hang on I'll try the Radio 2 website.

Right, managed to download the interview. Ian McCartney - Trade and Industry Minister is approaching the Retail Consortium over the weekend to try and get some sort of good will gesture. He said that those affected should make a claim by phoning 0870 830 6010. This was in an interview on the Chris Evans show. Maybe others will be a long to give you more info.

Bagoflove, is this Farepak Hampers?

There's another couple of threads about this, one in Legal/Money matters and one In the News. There might be some information there which might help you.

So sorry this has happened to you

shhhh · 20/10/2006 17:13

I feel so sorry for you. I am also someone who uses a similar club but luckily have not been affected BUT I wont be doing it for next year..
I only did it as a way of not spending the cash myself but luckily dh & I are in a good position if we were affected iykwim.

I so feel sorry for those of you who are affected badly by this and its such a shame that christmas truly will be spoilt...

If it is farepak, they are looking at giving goodwill gestures but usually customers like you will be along way down the debt list...Clients they owe will get payments 1st etc. I would write to them and chase them as much as possible. I think the more you pester the better your chance of getting something. {{Big hugs}}..

Overtiredmum · 20/10/2006 17:23

I think this is just terrible. I was watching GMTV earlier in the week and there were agents and customers who were saying that Farepak must have been aware of the situation but were still taking payments from peoples bank accounts as late as last Friday. So effectively those that are paying money to them are going to clear the company's debtors first and be left with nothing. My heart goes out to you all, I cannot begin to imagine how you must be feeling. Big hugs xx
