Farmers' markets - does anyone sell at them?

I'm looking for a bit of advice about selling at farmers' markets - how much it costs, what's provided for the cost, whether you find it worthwhile etc etc. I'm off to bed now, so don't expect a response tonight, but if you've got any information it will be very gratefully received tomorrow. Thanking you.

I've been thinking of doing the same thing MrsMuddle,so will bump the thread for you.

What are you thinking of selling & where?

A lady in the next village started selling plants at our local one & has a good little business now.

Mirage, I'm thinking of selling in the west of Scotland (except the Glasgow one, as that is so expensive) and not terribly sure yet what I'd sell. I have a few ideas. I'd probably do pickles and preserves or cakes. What would you sell, and where do you live? It would be good if you lived near me and we could do it together!

Oh poo,I am in Leicestershire.Pickles ect go really well around here.Have you sussed out your local market to see who sells what yet?

forgot to say what I'd sell.Proably herbs, tomato, chilli & other veg plants, for other people to grow on.I am currently putting a polytunnel up to grow them in.I was going to do veg,but there is too much competition

Yeah, our local market's not that great. Lots of meat, veg and cakes mostly. Your polytunnel sounds great. I grew chillies inside this year, and they were great. Your idea sounds much less labour-intensive than making pickles! Good luck. Let me know how your first market goes, and I'll do likewise.
