Hello, we're a family of 4 with 2 small children wanting to relocate to south Cambridgeshire but have no knowledge of the area and are terrified of leaving the bustle of London. We have a decent budget and want to make the break but don't want to be anywhere too isolated but at the same time not in the center of the city. Schools are important, our eldest will start in September and space is what we're really after. I wondered if there were any areas, villages that were nice and family orientated? I would need to commute to the London area by car so south Cambridgeshire essential really. We've been looking and there are lots of beautiful houses but its so hard when you just don't have a clue about areas. We're not really interested in new build cul de sacs, more a traditional period house within easy reach, by car to Cambridge. Any pointers to start us off would be amazing! Thanks

Re schools would you be looking at independent or state as most of the good indies are centrally based so you might want to look at routes into the schools. South of Cambridge Great Shelford is a popular area. If going down the state route both Comberton and Swavesey Village Colleges are popular secondary schools that you need to really be in catchment primaries for.
