I am so angry.

Woman at bus stop got a cigarette out so I moved away. Another woman said mind you're not going to walk it are you? I said "No, I am moving away from the cigarette smoke I don't like people smoking round my children"

First woman said to her friend, look at that mad woman, stuck up cow moaning about my fag.

They kept looking at me and whispering and then on the bus I gave youngest a feed and she said "stupid cow even gets her tit out in public she thinks I'm disgusting and she does that.

Am I unreasonable for not wanting people smoking round them? I am fuming. Their smoking is one thing but the way they react when you don't like what they're doing makes me really angry

you know you are in the right and she is wrong. I do however get irritated with these kind of posts. It's one thing to be annoyed with the women on the bus and to post about it, but why bother asking if you're being unreasonable - as if anyone is going to say yes.

bluejelly · 19/10/2006 15:42

You're not bonkers and your post didn't irritate me in the slightest! Sometimes you need reassurrance after incidents in daily life! Well i do anyway
How rude of her to comment on your bfeeding

in scotland its illegal to smoke in a bus shelter

ITS GREAT!

madmarchscare · 19/10/2006 15:47

Tbh, outside, I only ever move away if its literally blowing right in his face.

Hunker is going to along in a minute telling us she can smell melon at 100 paces .

LucyJones · 19/10/2006 15:48

How on earth can they police bus stops though? Not sure I'd go up to someone and say 'excuse me, do you know it's ileal to smoke here' - might get a fag stubbed out in my eye!!!

Rookiemum · 19/10/2006 16:27

It is illegal now to smoke in bus stops in Scotland, about time too, only useful thing the Scottish Executive has done.

When I was pregnant I was really sensitive to smells so obviously the smell of smoke wasn't good. I once had to go back inside to chunder after waiting 15 minutes in a taxi queue because it was outside the airport and everyone was having their dirty nasty cigarettes and it made me sick, then I had to requeue in exactly the same circumstances.

My DH reckons that you should be allowed to shoot anyone smoking with a water pistol as the damage to them is a lot less than the damage they are doing with their nicotine filled stink bombs.

I am ranting on a bit but thats because I have been out in town and its raining a bit today which makes the smell of them even more horrendous.

I'm certainly with you, CKmum. I think your post was worded in the right way too - it's reasonble to ask if you're being reasonable and not to assume all minds are alike!

nailpolish · 19/10/2006 17:20

lucyjones. there are people employed to go around ensuring no-one is smoking illegally

(mostly pubs tho)

nailpolish · 19/10/2006 17:24

kind of like traffic wardens - park on the double yellow lines - you might get away with it but then again a traffic warden might come along...

Charleesunnysunsun · 19/10/2006 17:34

Rude bitch

I hate people who smoke all over me and ds in public i used to smoke and didn't have one when in a public place town/highstreet ect because some people really don;t like it.

I haven't smoked for nearly 3 years and the smell of it when walking down the road makes me feel sick and i get so angry when people walk past breathing it into the pushchair.

My mum and sisters smoke in the garden at home and even though thier outside i can still smell it and its gross. So no i don't think your unreasonable at all

RANT OVER!

Charleesunnysunsun · 19/10/2006 17:35

Sorry that 'Rude bitch' comment wasn't aimed at any of you but the lady at the bus stop.

CKMUM · 20/10/2006 09:22

thanks everyone, feel better. I was a bit worried that I had offeended this woman. She had a toddler herself and by saying I didn't like smoking around children I thought maybe she thought I was calling her a bad mum.

My friend had a good retort for this sort of thing...

harpsichordcarrion · 20/10/2006 09:39

I hate smoking at bus stops, you can't get away!

misdee · 20/10/2006 09:42
