The is an airfield/base thing at Stanton (or something like that) I think. International is probably West Midlands.

starshaker · 19/10/2006 14:41

Birmingham International Airport is the West Mids one.

zippitippitoes · 19/10/2006 14:43

Bristol

NOMurDErousPLUME · 19/10/2006 14:46

Or she could fly into Bristol International Airport which is 55 miles south from Cheltenham. Birmingham International is 56 miles north.

NOMurDErousPLUME · 19/10/2006 14:47

(Bristol only do Glasgow though, not prestwick)

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 14:48

Bristol might be a better option if she can get a flight there, Birmingham is a nightmare traffic wise, I would avoid at all costs!

NOMurDErousPLUME · 19/10/2006 14:50

No way, at least Birmigham airport is directly off the motorway (m42), Bristol airport is miles from the motorway.

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 14:56

We have family who come up the M6 from Cheltenham when they visit us, the area around Birmingham can add anything up to 2 hours to the journey time. I don't know the roads from Bristol to Cheltenham at all, but I wouldn't have thought it would be as bad as that? Could obviously be wrong though.

NOMurDErousPLUME · 19/10/2006 14:57

Have flown from both (and I live midway between the 2), they are both pretty grim tbh. Although Bristol is a nice small airport to travel through.

NOMurDErousPLUME · 19/10/2006 14:58

If you were travelling from Birmingham ITL to Cheltenham you wouldn't go on the M6. You'd go M42 - M5

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 15:15

Ah, well then perhaps the other roads around Birmingham aren't as bad as that stretch of the M6?

tiredemma · 19/10/2006 15:16

M6 is murder at any time of the the day. Avoid it at all costs.

You wouldnt actually have to go anywhere near it to get to Cheltenham, its a very straight run from Bham airport.

Philomena · 19/10/2006 16:00

Agree - no M6 required from Brum to Cheltenham. If you wanted to stay off motorways then the A46 is a great run to Cheltenham, although clearly some motorway traffic will be required.

Hayls · 19/10/2006 18:57

I live near Cheltenham and regularly fly to Glasgow from Bristol, apart from anything else it's always cheaper.
