Propper attire for Diwali Temple Visit ... for toddlers!

A question to those mn'ers who are versed with Diwali traditions etc.

DS (2) will be going for a Diwali temple visit with his nursery (non-faith nursery who likes to 'expose' to all faiths) and have requested that the parents bring in a scarf.

My question, does a 2 year old boy need to cover his head? If so would a hat or a hood be sufficient? I can't see ds keeping on a loosly wrapped carf

Thanks for any input

erm, as far as I know, Hindu temples do not require people to cover their heads. Is he going to a Gurudhwar (Sikh temple)? If it is a Gurudhwar then I think visitors do have to cover their heads but I'm not sure if it applies to toddlers.

No idea what kind of temple it is, but I think I've seen a sign near nursery pointing to a Gurudhwar

Thank you

You don't have to cover your head in Hindu temples. I'm not Hindu or anything but I've been to the big London one (which is AMAZING!) and all you have to do is take your shoes off. A two year old would not be expected to wear any special clothes - he's a baby!

Hi - come from a Hindu family so know the drill! Boys don't need to cover their heads (girls can but if it's a big temple I guess they're pretty relaxed). He'll be sitting on the floor (no shoes allowed) so make sure he wears trousers and socks that you don't mind him getting a bit mucky!

Can't understand why they asked parents to bring in scarfs for all kids - maybe they're confused with a Gurdwara (Sikh temple) where boys do need to cover their heads...

Hope he has fun - two seems quite young to be taking part in "multi-faith" stuff but good on the nursery for having a go!

found out it's a Sikh temple they'll be taken too and even toddlers have to cover their head... 'we get them used to it from a young age' good luck to them for keeping any head covering on ds!
