You've made me cry now!!

I have won custody of my DD.

Started growing a DD or DS for her.

Made lots of friends on mumsnet.

Hopefully given as well as recieved lots of good advice on here.

Learnt that not everyone will like me but I am no less of a person for it.

Realised that I will never win my parents love or agreement and that my life is probably better for them not being in it and me not striving to please them when I never will!!

Realised that I would love to get married again now I have found the man of my dream - the man who I never even dared to hope for!!

Here's to the next 6 months!!

fairyfly · 19/04/2004 16:34

Essbee
I have not done anything other than day to day stuff but have done a lot of thinking about future plans !
Congratulations to you - I have just read your previous thread and I feel the tears welling up, but I am also so happy that you have turned your life around. Think ,if you could do all that in 6 months , you are a really strong and capable person and I wish you and your children lots of love and fun for your future

eidsvold · 19/04/2004 18:58

It is funny looking back wondering what you have done:

  • gone back to work full time
  • put dd into full time nursery
  • become pregnant
  • had dh's visa approved
  • prepared to emigrate/rtn to Australia in about 6 weeks
  • had the all clear from dd's cardiologist
  • had some writing published in parent magazines
  • taken part in the Flora Light Challenge
  • Lost a grandparent
  • about to gain a niece/nephew

Wow that really is a lot looking at it.

WideWebWitch · 19/04/2004 21:23

I'm glad you're so much happier essbee. Gosh, is it really six months? I've

Moved city and county
Had a baby
Started back at work
Spent far too much time here
Made new friends
Become an aunt
Oh, that's all nice positive stuff!

Nutcracker · 19/04/2004 21:58

I found Mumsnet, thankgod.

Essbee - You really are an inspiration to me and reading your other thread just made me want to cry.
Just hope i can feel like you do now in 6 mths time.

kiwisbird · 19/04/2004 22:15

you have come so far... you brave lady
Me I've brought up my daughter and relaxed a lot in the last 6 months
It's been lovely to finally breathe again!

popsycal · 19/04/2004 22:50

In the last 6 months, i have:

  • discovered Mumsnet - and made new friends because of it - some 'virtual' and some now who are RL friends
  • had traumas about deciding about the future of my career and what I want with it
  • become a much more confident driver after an accident over 4 years ago
  • lost my grandfather
  • contiued to enjoy my goregous DS - love him more each day!

Oh and fairyfly is lying about her wine intake - great underestimation

In the last 6 months I have:

Become pregnant and lost the baby

As a consequence decided to focus on my career and am having great fun doing so

As a consequence have started up a card making business

As a consequence have signed up as a volunteer for the miscarriage association

Watched my son learn to walk and talk

and most importantly: learnt what a fantastically supportive community mumsnet is!

Bugsy2 · 20/04/2004 15:11

What a great thread. So many people who have done so much. Bit of a life change for me too:
Realised that relationship with H is over
Started divorce proceedings
Found two new jobs
Found lovely nanny
Been on two dates
Started swimming again on a regular basis
Taken ds to be assessed for behavioural probs
Listened to dd learn to talk
Got closer to my Mum
Gradually felt much happier
