We are (unfortunately) locked into a 6 month let on this nasty little house. Have seen another house up for rent which would be great for us, have told agents that we would be really interested, but could only really rent from December (and that would mean forfeiting 6 weeks rent on this place). The house that we want has been up for rent for three months now, and the agents say that the owner wants to rent it "immediately" - within the next 2-3 weeks and she won't even let us have a look round the place! She has grudgingly agreed that we can have a look at it if it is still available in November, but refused to take my contact details as "November is too far off."
Now, what do you think that the chances are of them renting this place out within the next three weeks, given the length of time it has been on the market already? And is November really a popular time to rent houses? We rent out a flat in central London and that has never been my experience, but maybe t'country is different? Or was she just talking out of her arse? If it were me, I'd be happier having a guaranteed rent from early Dec than leave it empty without any guarantee of tenants.
