Electricity sub-stations - would you/do you live next to one?

Am house-hunting (again) after our purchase fell through, and have viewed a great property today.

However, the downside is that there is a (small)electricity sub-station next door to it.

Are these dangerous to live next door to, and does anyone have any experience of living next door to one please?

Thanks in advance,

No experience, but there is a house next to one in a nearby village which is notorious for being next to one.Apparently it hums so loudly that the occupants can hear it inside their house.

i grew up next to one, never noticed it humming and don't think it did any harm (was in front garden away from house and back garden where we played. Also bought a house with one at bottom of garden, again no problems apart from cat getting stuck in the anti-climb paint it was coated in. If it was noisy i would find it irritating tho. Isn't the voltage quite low, not like pylons which are dangerous, high voltage, noisy, ugly etc.
