Is it ok to invite neighbours round for mulled wine on a Monday evening?

I wanted to try to be neighbourly and invite people I barely know but I'm not much of a hostess so just want to make a load of mulled wine and provide some nibbles. I can't do it this weekend so it'll have to be Monday or Tuesday evening - can I invite people for say 6.30-8.30 without the implication that i'll be providing a load of food?!

Yeah definitely! Just say that your inviting them over for mulled wine and mince pies when you invite them. I think it is a lovely idea and a great way to share some festive cheer with your neighbours without it being a massive project for you and them. I think its unspoken that drinks early in the week mean that you don't stay too long but having an end time takes the guess work out of it and means your guests won't feel rude about just popping in for half an hour (...or intending just to stay that long anyway). Nice plan, if I can bring myself to tidy up this weekend I might try it too!

Ordinary week I'd avoid Mondays but Christmas week is perfectly fine and almost compulsory!

Make it Tuesday. Some people might have booked Christmas Eve off work. My mum always had the neighbours round fro wine and nibbles every 23rd December. It became a tradition in our street.

Thanks for the replies and encouragement. I'm going to do it. Now just need to tidy the flat! And work out how to make mulled wine. Oh and invite some people - don't know whether to just invite people I've at least greeted, or just a certain number of doors down, or people who have put Xmas wreathes on their doors or what...Our flat's pretty tiny.
Gonna stick with the Monday cos I know one lot (who we actually owe drinks to) are leaving on Tuesday...
