How long to hear from the police after a reported rape?

Just as the title says really.

Happened at New Year. Reported to the police in March, full statement given in April. Since then, nothing. Nothing at all.

I wondered if anyone could either say yes, me too, took fucking years, or no, that's weird, something should have happened by now.

Each day that goes on when I don't hear anything makes me worry that I am going to be arrested for making it up. Like each day is adding to their no evidence thing and they are getting closer to believing I've lied and I'll end up in prison because of it. I haven't lied, obviously, but it's one of those stupid things that I have no actual proof, especially as I didn't go to the police immediately their words, not mine

On another note, I had no clue where to put this, hence putting it here, but if someone can think of somewhere better I can get it moved.

Has anyone been arrested and/or charged? Do you have the name of the officer that took your statement? Ring the police station and ask to speak to them x

No one one has been arrested or charged. At least, I'm assuming that they haven't, I haven't heard anything.

It happened abroad. I rung and spoke to the policewoman dealing with it in June/July time and she said it had been passed to Interpol. I don't have any contact details for anyone there.

Just bumping incase all the wise people who know this stuff are now around.

Last, final, shameless bump before I slink back into ignoring this happened.

Maybe as it includes interpol it will take longer for communication to be passed back and forth.

Thanks, that's what I'm telling myself. I have no clue about anything to do with Interpol, so it's kind of like this unknown entity.

I want to tell you that we believe you. You are not alone in this.

Such a long wait does not seem right, and I think you should ask your local police station to chase it up.

As it took place abroad, perhaps you could contact the British Embassy of that country and ask them to chase it on your behalf.

I hadn't thought of the British Embassy. The general feeling from the police was of "why are you reporting this now, not when it happened" and I'm nervous about that happening again.
