DH has a new job with a London company where he can work remotely (we live in Manchester). He doesnt want to mix home/work space so is looking for a company where he can rent a desk. Can anyone help?

possibly JoSW19 - what does your DH do?

You need to look in the Yellow Pages under Serviced Offices. There are a number of companies in and around Manchester ie Regus for example where you rent whatever sized office you require and the switchboard answer the phone in your company's name, sort out the post, take messages etc and usually have boardrooms for hire if you need them. They can be pricey but might be what your husband is looking for.

There is a hotdesking place near where I live - it's part of a complex that has a pub and a Travel Inn - people can rent space and have meetings and stuff. I have no idea how much it is or if it is suitable, but it is just off the M60 at Carrington if that's any help to you.

Thanks everyone for your help - he really wants an office environment with other people around him, a whole day of no human contact would drive him insane. Thus he's not keen on a small room in a business centre. Katierocket - He's in charge of sales and marketing for an internet company. Get me on 'Contact another talker' if you think you can help. Thanks again.

joSW19 - the company i was thinking of is owned by a friend of mine but is a new media company so not sure they would want someone in their offices from a potentially rival firm?

glitterfairy · 17/04/2004 19:16

I work just behind picadilly station in an office loft conversion (very nice, very convenient, lots of start ups and internet companies). Some people in my building may be interested in renting him a desk but I will need to wait till monday to find out. Most of the offices are open plan and he would probably need to pay something for phone and internet connection as well. Will ask if you would like.

JoSW19 · 17/04/2004 23:00

Glitterfairy - Thats sounds perfect, look forward to hearing what you say Monday. Katierocket - Yes, they are in the 'new media' field however most of his work is to do with software (or so I'm told). No harm in them emailing each other? Whatcha reckon?

I don't blame your DH trying to find other people to work with. I worked home alone for a while and hated it!

glitterfairy · 19/04/2004 19:48

HI JoSW19, I have sent your dh two emails tell him to ignore the first. We have a desk which he might like but there are only two of us (great office with chill place upstairs) and we are away a fair bit. Anyway see what he thinks and he can come and meet us to discuss next week. He may not like it and that is fine!

Glitterfairy - Thank you so much for your help - DH will contact you shortly.
