I have been offered a fantabulous job in Africa for three months...

...at least double my current salary, and running a small office there. Unfortunately it's on an unaccompanied basis. DH says I should go, that he will look after the DDs, and they will all come out for a month at Christmas. But I just don't think I could do that.

Why did no-one offer me chances like this when I was single or at least childless?

could you think about going - three months isn't long. How old are your dds?

MrsSchadenfreude · 03/10/2006 21:32

They are 8 and 5.

We have just moved to UK and I am not happy here (haven't spent any length of time in UK since I was 21), so I wonder if I would just be getting respite from the inevitable.

I'd do it. DH regularly works away for 3 months, with the odd week in UK during his time away. Could you have Skype while in Africa? If they'd join you at Christmas, then you wouldn't spend the whole time away from them and what a fantastic opportunity for them to visit you there anyway.

Why not get paid well for "respite from the inevitable" anyway?

It's moderately civilised Africa, so I don't see why not Skype.

Am going to think about this one now.
