My Ds has about 30/40 videos, although he will watch them all now and again, he has the same 5 or 6 that he watches over and over again (well at least twice a week). He watches a couple of video's on his room before he goes to sleep. he is 4.5. Just wondered about others.

Lots and lots of video's plus about twenty DVD's. He watches twenty minutes of telly in bed at night. Either a video or DVD. He was five in March. Although I do find that he prefers watching the eighties classics. Night Rider, A-Team, Airwolf and his favourite films are short circuit one and two or Indiana Jones.

At least he's got taste!

dd has a drawer full, and at last count i think it was 50 vids. she watches one each night b4 bed, sometimes the same one every night for a week. atm wizard of oz is her favourite. she is 4yrs old.

AlanP · 13/04/2004 17:13

Our Children (2 of each) constantly watched videos whilst growing up, many of them constantly. The only effect that they seem to have had is a full script knowledge of such classics as "the Sound of Music".

Our eldest is now reading Law at uni.

none here really, a few Ps 2 games though, we rent occasionally, ds did have star wars the phantom menace vid but wore it out.. he does still have the harry potter dvds but never watches them, so thats why we prefer to rent, he is 10 though... I never bought videos when he was little as never had a video player as am not big tv watcher...

spacemonkey · 13/04/2004 17:20

Ds has lots of videos and some DVD's. ATM he watches Wallace and Grommit The Wrong Trousers every morning and then in the evening he likes Finding Nemo! He was bought the DVD by my parents 4 weeks ago and we have watched it EVERY DAY since!! He also loves Ice Age. He is 2.

BadHair · 13/04/2004 17:21

Dses are 3 and 1 and have a grand total of about 6 videos and 3 DVDs, plus unlimited access to CBloodyBeebies if they get the remote control before I do. Left to their own devices they would watch Pingu on repeat all day but I do occasionally prise them away from the telly and make them do other stuff.

Thomcat · 13/04/2004 17:22

We are armed with about 30 DVds but they are used for when we have dinner parties and our friends bring their kids. We make the front room into a big camp with duvets, pillows, blankets etc, put on a DVD and give them all a glass of milk and they are usually asleep on the sofas and in their sleeping bags by the time we start eating!

I let Lottie watch the Aristocats when we're ahving a chilled hour on the sofa together. She's seen it about 10 times and know the actions before they happen and absolutley adores it, it's so cute. It is used as a treat and for when I want to just chill out and have some quiet time with her.

BadHair · 13/04/2004 17:22

Collision, mine are W&G fans too. Except that the wrong trousers is "the naughty penguin", grand day out is "the skiing cooker" and close shave is "nasty doggy" in our house.

Grommit · 13/04/2004 17:28

Dd went through a major Wallace and Grommit phase - hence my mumsnet name! She tends to watch the same video over and over and then never watch it again - can't imagine how much money I must have wasted on videos and dvds, still dh still enjoys some of them...

collision · 13/04/2004 17:53

Haha!! My ds calls it 'the naughty penguin' too. Must try and get hold of the other ones as I know he would love them.

dd doesn't have any....is she the only 2 year old without?

Northerner · 14/04/2004 15:39

My ds is 2 and he adores Barney's adventure Bus. It's all he wants to watch. Even I know all of the songs.

littlemissbossy · 14/04/2004 15:45

I'm too embarrassed to admit how many videos/dvds my kids have ... but my 3 yr olds' current favourite is Power Rangers. He was introduced to the joys of PR's from a friend at playgroup and is now completely obsessed. I hid the video the other day 'cos I couldn't bear to listen/watch it again!!

PopeyesPiece · 14/04/2004 15:49

dd doesn't have any dvd's or videos but watches ceebeebies far too much for my brain, those songs stick.

littlemissbossy · 14/04/2004 15:55

"what's the story in balamory" sing along now popeyespiece
