Is it ok to refrigerate baby rice (please read! It's not what you think!)

Ok, so I am thinking of making my DD (7 mo) some edible finger paints, to make it a painty texture I am going to use a little bit of baby rice that we never used because there was no point to it. ANYWAY, it'll be mixed with beetroot and blueberries and raspberries to make the differnt colours so she can enjoy a bit of messy play.
To save time tomorrow because she'll need a bath, I'm wondering whether I can pre-make it and leave it in the fridge overnight?

What do you think? I can't find anything solid either way.

I can't see why not. She's over 6 months and you've not mentioned anything contentious like adding seafood or formula milk that probably shouldn't be sitting around for hours. Go for it! do not envy the cleaning up afterwards though Smile

I think it'd be fine. Do you make it with boiling water (I forget)? Follow the usual advice re: cooling it and getting it in the fridge quickly. Presumably you'll be using it cold rather than re-heating it so it's not like formula where you'd be warming it up and thus giving the bacteria optimal growing temperature.

Sounds fun Smile

I made it with boiling water and cooled it before I popped it in the fridge (covered) then tomorrow to make it a little thinner I'll put some cold water in it so it's not reheated.
Yippee I laughed SO HARD at your UN oh my god!
We've got a mess mat and laminate flooring, I'm hoping it makes it easier to clean up! I may have to re-make with cold water because now I'm worried that the cooling will have caused there to be bacteria in it Confused
