Does the moon look the other way round in Australia?

We were discussing this on the way home tonight. The moon is changing shape on the left. Is it the same on the other side of the world? Ds said if he stood on his head it would be the other way round. Dd2 said she'll probably go on mumsnet and ask. So anyone know??

As far as I know I never noticed the moon looking different when I lived in the UK to what it looked like in Aus. It goes through the same stages and so would look the same iyswim - you know - a new moon looks like a new moon - would seem back to front then wouldn't it.

I could be wrong though.

I don't know about in Australia (can't access Sue's link) but we're a few degrees above the equator and the moon changes shape from top to bottom. Atm, it's about half way to full moon and is like a cup with the straight edge uppermost. I always think it looks weird!

I don't remember it looking different

The water goes down the plughole the wrong way though!

I have just asked DH and he says

it changes on the left UP TO FULL MOON in the evening

And then AFTER FULL MOON the shape changes on the right

BUT it is in the early morning so we are asleep
