so I've joined - have quite a few things to get rid of. I notice it asks you to list them all in one post so do you do that? It's just that the stuff I'm shifting is not all related (so a TV stand and then some quite nice toys)?

Does it work by you just going through all the posts and seeing what you want? Also, do I have to put a phone number in or when people read my post, will they be able to send me a mail (I clicked on something in settings where I said I didn't want any because I don't want rubbish in my inbox).

Yes you should list all your offers in the same e-mail so that you aren't clogging up everyone's inboxes.

You should be mailed evrytime someone posts a message be it an offer or a request. Then you can ask for things that interest you & delete the others.

I wouldn't put your tel no in your original messages but if someone mails you & you agree on handing over / collecting you may wish to give them a contact no to finalise the arrangements.

I use freecycle loads & so far have found everyone to be very reliable & friendly.

Enjoy!

I think I clicked on the thing where (hopefully) I won't get new offers etc. in my inbox because I'd rather just log on to the website and look at them that way. Does that mean other people won't be able to email me do you think?

I give my email address in the original post. I'm fairly new to it too. So far I've given a computer desk and received some stick insect eggs.

I give my phone number if anyone emails me.

I wonder though, does anyone really plough through all the emails it creates in the yahoo mail thingy? I can't possibly keep up with that so I give my usual email address. If anyone emailed my yahoo address set up for freecycle I would never find the mail underneath all those others. Is there a way round this? Am I doing it wrong?

Don't forget to do the subject heading right, lots of them are now rejecting if you do it wrong. Eg, Offered: Various (Timbuktu)

thanks for the tips

my broadband is through bt yahoo internet so the default mail address they used is my home one

you can opt not to receive all the mail in your preferences - I just hope that doesn't mean I don't get specific replies (but surely it can't mean that I hope)

They use my home e-mail address so I never go onto the actual site unless its to post my own message. I get about 15 messages from freecycle a day now - when I first started there weren't so many so I probably need to get them sent into a partic folder. It has been brilliant for giving & recieving kids stuff.
