DD has got to find the top news stories for the year she was born (1995)as her English homework. She's spent most of the weekend trawling through millions of websites and is getting a bit dis-spirited! Can anyone suggest a good news archive site that will list the headlines for a given year? She's getting bogged down in listing loads of very trivial news stories from local papers in America mostly (and I'm not sure that the under 17's football scores for a mid-west high school really shaped the world that much...)

Relying on the power of mumsnet to pull the weekend back from the brink!

Thank you so much ladies!

The BBC archive is exactly what we're looking for (am kicking myself that I couldn't find it) so that should solve the problem. Thank you for the offer of the book charliecat, but luckily we're sorted!

Yay mumsnet!!
