Have you got the option of joining him? Babysitters who DD wold settle with?

at 2.5 she probably wouldn't remember the trauma of you abandoning her after a week or two (joke)

GO TWIG GO!!

MarsLady · 30/09/2006 17:18

Then GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And sorry I missed your birthday.

Go! She'll get over it. Probably about 5 secs after you leave!

I personally yearn to feck off from them all to Barcelona.

Instead of which DP is fecking off to the states next weekend (flying to a conference on climate change, as per effing usual) and I am left with the Inferiorettes in SarfEast fecking Lunnon.

Piffle · 30/09/2006 17:46

Twig, lets get our passports and run for it

Carmenere · 30/09/2006 17:49

I want to go too, please, I havn't been to Barcelona since I was 22. It was the scene of one of the best summers of my life, I'd go if I were you, deffo. Think you could do hotel sex too, and that's the best kind

Hmm, I yearn for the deep deep peace of a hotel bed all alone.

I do get to go to Glasgow in a fortnight for work, but somehow it's not the same.

Piffle · 30/09/2006 18:01

I thus vehemntly distance myself from this thread
Sex is a good reason for me escaping the UK

Pregnant and libido has nose dived sometime ago

Twiglett · 30/09/2006 18:21

achoo-ally .. the flip side is DH saying if I don't mind him going for a week, he doesn't mind me going away for a week

so its kinda tempting not to join him and just disappear knowing that at least kids are with their father

OP posts:
Carmenere · 30/09/2006 18:40

Ooh a week away, knowing that their dad was happily minding them, very tempting. That said I think I would prefer a week in Barcelona with my dp.....

UnquietDad · 30/09/2006 18:55

If your DHs are sent on these trips by work, it hardly counts as fecking off, does it? Comes with the territory and pays the bills. I don't imagine "sorry, no, I can't go, family commitments" would go down all that well with the fat bald guy who pays their salaries.

Carmenere · 30/09/2006 18:58

Whilst you make a fair point Unquitedad, I work away quite often and no matter what way you look at it, you get to hang out in nice hotels and chat to adults about stuff that isn't child related. So whilst it is still work, it is a break from the drudgery that the weekly home routine often is.

motherinferior · 30/09/2006 18:58

My DP's salary is paid by a rather soignee woman, UD. And my income pays the bills too - and involves me in the odd work trip as well. I would still quite like to feck off, and not just to Glasgow either.

Twiglett · 30/09/2006 18:58

nah bollocks .. its a conference .. not a course nor a meeting .. a sales conference .. truly a jolly ..

OP posts:
Twiglett · 30/09/2006 18:59

Oh and I am slightly taken aback by the blatant sexism especially as I used to have lots of little men working for me

OP posts:
motherinferior · 30/09/2006 19:00

And come to that both of us have at various points said 'I can't come, family commitments'. Me more often than him, it has to be said.

Carmenere · 30/09/2006 19:03

I turned down a trip to Panama last week, no one to mind dd

Twiglett · 30/09/2006 19:05

I think maybe I should go back to my kittens and knitting ..

OP posts:
motherinferior · 30/09/2006 19:14

Ah, cheer up, Twig. Remember I'm cooking you cauli cheese next Friday!

Twiglett · 30/09/2006 19:15

Yum .. am looking forward to it ..

OP posts:
Twiglett · 30/09/2006 19:16

I think someone else might be depressed about the change of menu though

OP posts:
UnquietDad · 30/09/2006 20:44

It's blatant sexism to make a joke about someone's dh's salary being paid by a fat bald guy? Blimey. This place truly rests on eggshells.

Ultimately, "it's work". And when "it's work" there isn't an awful lot people can do about it. I could moan about DW getting to go on a jolly to Spain with her school, only I know it isn't a jolly as she and the other teachers will be supervising 40 kids.

Piffle · 30/09/2006 23:22

Dp has to do a lot of trips, he works away 5/7 days
There are one or two trips every year for two exhibitions, where staff all queue up to go, as it is a true jolly.
We at home can tell the difference easily...
