Calling whoever it was that went to a fancy dress as Shrek and Fiona!

I can't find the old thread. Dh and I are going away with the lifeguards again and this time it's cartoon characters. We're going as Shrek and Fiona. Just wanted to pick your brain as to how you made the costume.

But if anyone else reads this, all suggestions welcomed!

shrek - waistcoat (cut down), white collarless shirt and tartan trousers and green face paint if can't find a mask

fiona - green velvet full length dress from a charity shop, long haired wig plaited and a tiara

Thanks Lexie! We managed to buy a brown furry waistcoat that I can cut down, a long ladies jumper that looks like a tunic and a pair of trousers that aren't tartan but slightly green and look OK. All from charity shops. We got some Shrek hands and face paint from Ebay as, bless him, he doesn't need the mask as, apart from not being green, he already looks like Shrek. He's even had a little boy asked him if he were Shrek one day at a soft play centre!

I've got a bridesmaid dress, a ginger wig that I shall plait and dd's tiara so all I need is to make my Fiona ears from an eggbox and stick them to a hair band.

The good thing is we're going to an Oscars Party at New Year and can wear it all again.

Surfermum please post pics, DH is a little Shrek like too & it'd be nice to know I'm not alone. I've even got the long red hair & altho' a little plumper than I should be, don't think I'm the spit for Fiona yet .
