Affordable places South West of London

We live in the West country but, due to dhs changing work pattern, he is spending more time in London. We both hate it that he is out of the house from dawm till dusk and are considering whether or not we could afford to move closer. Our house is worth @£250,000. Is there anywhere, very easiliy commutable, South West of London where a small house or nice flat is affordable at that price? Or are we priced out of the commuter belt completely?

You won't be priced out but it depends where you want to be and how many bedrooms you need (and where your dh wants to commute). You can get a house for that in places like Morden, Colliers Wood, Hampton - have a look on findaproperty.co.uk because they have loads on there. Whereabouts were you thinking?

Froot, I'm not really a bumpkin! I was born and bred in London.

Dh spends alot of his time visiting offices around the West End and it takes over 2 hours from here. An hours commute max each way would be ok. Hampton sounds nice, is that Hampton Court?
