would you hire them?Or do you think its unfair to British builders Following an excellent efficient and fair priced (about half)small job I am thinking of using a team to finish our house as the team I usually use are really expensive and it would take about 2 more years to finish!Or use the polish guys and have a completed house before xmas?In a dilemma and do feel a bit mean but am sick of living in c**p tbh

Well they have started and are unbelievably quick and skilled so much so that dp was running tound with a pen and paper making a further list for them of all the bits we were going to do ourselves Although they decorate in v short shorts and stink of fahrenheit but I can live with that!

Noddy I am really interested in contact details for them - do they do decorating?

I don't think it is an offensive attitude - aren't well all encouraged to buy from british farmers? I certainly don't think noddy was being offensive.

I agree with the posts about the brit builders though, tehre is plenty of work and they might be encouraged to pull their fingers out and get some work done!

puddle they are doing decorating now Are stripping walls filling re lining painting etc and excellent prices I will cat you their email address etc I must admit I am terrified that my other builders knock on the door and see them but what can i do?

I would just choose who I think would do the best job irrespective of where they come from. I have had a Polish person do a job in the kitchen (excellent) a british person do a floor job (excellent), an Irish person also do a floor job (excellent), a British person do a garden job (Crap), a british plumber who trained in Germany (Excellent) and I will continue in this way.

I get three quotes and I make a judgement based on price and their portfolio if they have one and even better a recomendation.

I agree drosophila I have had all kinds good and bad but the attitude of these guys is unbelievable compared to the norm!

can anybody tell me how you find polish builders? I have been given extortionate prices from british builders, and frankly I am fed up with it.

For electric, gas or plumbing I'd use someone who's work is then certified to show the work is done to a specific standard.
Most other things I wouldn't mind really.

They don't do electrics but do plumbing but not gas so are above board.Look on Gumtree and then ask for references HTH
