I know this is very trivial and not really a dilemma but felt like asking for some ideas...It's my 37th (boo hoo) birthday next week and no one knows what to get me (parents/sister/DH). Trouble is i am 16 weeks PG so clothes are out, dont want any toiletries as got loads for Xmas and cant think of any CDs/DVDs i want, got some books for Xmas that still havent read yet. DH is desperate - as usual! Only thing i can think of so far is real pashmina (v expensive) and manicure.

Any other ideas - i know i am being rubbish!

Thanks

Congratulations on the pregnancy!!
My suggestions would be:
Beauty Salon vouchers - for that manicure or some beauty treatment as your pregnancy progresses - a pedicure is always nice later on in pregnancy (when you can't reach your toes!!)
What about a lightweight dressing gown or similar for when you are in hospital (unless you are planning a home birth of course).
A garden lounger - pregnancy is a good excuse for snoozing in the sun with a good book.
Theatre or concert tickets - good excuse for an evening out.
A nice large wheeled travel bag for hospital.

It's my 37th birthday soon and I will be asking for a digital radio - is that something you might like?

lailag · 06/04/2004 15:28

Go somewhere nice. Went to Spain on my last birthday... Could he/they take a day off to go somewhere? Or even posh restaurant: once you've got dd/ds it's going to be more difficult..

Thanks for replies - to answer in order:

Vouchers for manicure/pedicure definitely on list
Got me dressing gown for last birthday!
Got garden lounger when PG last time and fully intend to use it lots this time round as due in September.
Theatre tickets is good but would probably end up being vouchers...
Got various travel bags and hopefully wont have to carry myself!
Digital radio - not really my thing (but thinking of getting for DH's 40th later in the year)
Going out for day on my birthday to Brighton and nice lunch as DS (2) goes to my parents on Wednesday.

So should be grateful with all i have really (realise lots of people have/get a lot less) but being bugged by parents/DH - and trickier than usual as PG this time!

Thanks a lot

what is your budget?

Tallgirl · 06/04/2004 16:51

Difficult one really as dont really want to ask other people how much they are going to spend on me!

Think i am just being pathetic as usually am around the time of my birthday - but this year with added pregnancy hormones!!

Handbag, shoes, sunglasses, hairdryer, hair straighteners (seem all the rage), although if you really want a pashmina why not ask people for money as you want to put it towards buying one.

eidsvold · 06/04/2004 19:25

a beauty salon near us does a day spa for pregnant woman - manicure, pedicure, facial, massage, lunch and hair treatment. Why not go for a day to yourself... being pampered

Levanna · 06/04/2004 22:52

It's mine soon aswell. I've asked for one of the bump belt (maternity - seat belt adjusters) for mine (amongst other things too, of course!) It's a good one for if there's someone who'd like to get you something 'practical'!
Actually, I really want one, but can't quite stretch to it at the mo .
oh yes....Happy Birthday!!

fisil · 06/04/2004 22:56

Happy birthday! I'd want something completely unpractical. A candle was my favourite present that I got while pg!

fisil · 06/04/2004 22:57

oh, and for this birthday dp got me a bath rack with candle holder, book stand and drinks holders. I thought that was the best gift ever!

kiwisbird · 06/04/2004 23:01

gingernut · 06/04/2004 23:05

Black Books DVDs

Or some Pampered Chef stoneware

Tallgirl · 07/04/2004 09:17

Thanks for all your suggestions - especially keen on the pampering stuff so will drop some hints.

Thanks for your ideas Gingernut you must know me so well (is that a hint you want your DVD back - whoops sorry!)

Hair straighteners are an interesting one only i already have straight hair! Also like the idea of the bath rack although have feeling wont be able to lean forward to reach it in a few months.

Thanks again
