gggrrrrrrrrrrrr s*dding congestion charge penalty

entirely my fault I know but had to take the car in on Friday - I had an appointment, dh had to work and had food/alcohol poisoning (I insist it was alcohol, he insists it was food ) and couldn't manage the train and I forgot to pay the sodding charge.

Now £50 of our well earned dosh is going to line some greedy contractor's pocket and that of Red Ken. And all to drive on roads that are full of roadworks ggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

We went into london and forgot to pay the charge! When I got the bill I wrote a letter complaining about the bill, can't remember what I put now, but I sent a cheque off for half the fine and they accepted that and I didnt have to pay the rest!
However, that was fairly soon after the charge was introduced! Worth a try though..

thanks flipflopper! unfortunately, this isn't our first fine - we are both dreadfully absentminded about things like this!

I just think it is a vast fine for such a teeny offence. I wish they would give you a week to pay because I actually remembered 2 days later (just over the new limit when I could have paid )

your husband sounds very like us! it's such an easy thing to forget to do!

My xp2 went in to london a lot with his job. He pain the charge online. I cant remember the addi for it. cclondon rings a bell. used his works credit card to pay then. You can pay that way up unitl 21:59 that day, well you could, I dont know about now though.

oooh, bad luck - it reeally hurts, doesn't it? i have forgotten twice now. Last time made the payment at 11.59!

I think they should give you a week, too. Or at least the whole of the next day.
