Is it nice? Are property exphensive? How are the links with London? How multi-cultural is it?

to make a long story short as we all have read millions such threads DH want us to move there as he thinks it's better for dc' (blah blah blah) while I love London, I've lived here for 12 years and consider it home - more than my own country at times and I am terrified of small-town mentality as I grew up in one.

My sister lives there.

Is it nice? - depends what you think is nice. It is quite 'naice'.

Are property exphensive? - Oh yes.

How are the links with London? - Good.

How multi-cultural is it? - ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Good one.

It is very Surrey - provincial, expensive, good commuter country, not v multi cultural

ATeddyIsForLife · 20/09/2006 21:27

Oh Nooooo [worried emoticon]!!!

That's what I feared...

If it's expensive what are the advantages compared to stay in london?

Erm...

you get to socialise with a Better Class of People?

Eowyn · 20/09/2006 21:36

if you are rich & can afford to live overlooking the downs, it is very nice.
otherwise it's just like anywhere, some v expensive houses & lots of ordinary ones that are overpriced.
think you might have to go elsewhere for multicultural.

I left Guildford 5 years ago, never been back thank goodness.
Dread to think how many 4 by 4s are there now

FrannyandZooey · 20/09/2006 21:40

It is also the worst place to hitch in the entire universe, and this was 15 years ago when hitching was still an acceptable leisure activity. I think we virtually had to walk to another county before anyone would pick us up.

oh b**cks!!! I know i will have a nervous breakdown!!

DH comes from woodley near reading and although he left pretty early andf travelled the world etc and never went back, now all of a sudden, thanks to middle-life crisis + pater-familias syndrome he has gotr wision of us being the Waltons, or something.

What can I do to counteract such plans?
