apart from blitzing my house from head to bottom....

Been up since (late) yesterday morning, worked last night and due to work meetings for both DH and I won't be able to sleep until the DS's go to bed until after they've gone to bed at 8pm tonight!!!

I must be invisible this morning as no-one is responding to any of my posts - either on threads I've started this morning, or ones I've replied too!!!!!

No,we'd never ignore you!
Brisk walk or a swim.

Housework?

Just don't sit down and get cosy.

Fatal.

southeastastra · 19/09/2006 09:38

hello! anyone there? haha

i don't know how to stay awake, proplus?

orangegiraffe · 19/09/2006 09:39

Hello
No advice really, I would have trouble staying awake, as soon as I sat down
Or maybe lots of caffiene!

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 19/09/2006 09:40

can't really go for a brisk walk - or swim - have DS2 here with me and the swimming pool is too far away, and DS2 a little slow.

  • and the bits I have to be 'alert' for are split up (ie at staff meeting this afternoon I shall sleep with my eyes open ).

Already got a huge list of housework to do - so far since I've got in from work I've changed the sheets, put a load of washing in, got DS1 up and out for school, emptied the dishwasher, ordered a music book for the choir, and a few other little things that needed doing........just I'm not a "houseworky" type person and I need ideas of what to do to stay awake when I got bored of it

Open the windows wide, put some loud music on,and have a good blitz.
You'll feel great afterwards.

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 19/09/2006 09:43

I like the idea of loud music on........better not make it too loud - wouldn't want the school complaining ! Not sure about opening windows - still feeling cold because I'm a bit tired (haha a "bit" she says LOL).

Might go and have a nice strong mug of the Fairtrade coffee I bought the other day - different brand from the one I sometimes buy and VERRRRRRRRRRRY nice.

Turn your heating off, open the windows and wear very little. I can never sleep if I am cold!

Or put some music on that always 'lifts' you (rather than sends you to sleep)

Dont read - I always fall asleep reading

Position drawing pins over your carpet - you will deffo stay awake avoiding them - or if you do get all sleepy you'll step on one and that will shock you into waking up

"Position drawing pins over your carpet - you will deffo stay awake avoiding them - or if you do get all sleepy you'll step on one and that will shock you into waking up"

HMmmm - great idea..........but not sure DH would be impressed when he gets home from work later tonight if I tell him that DS2 was "fine but has lots of little pin pricks all over his hands and feet"

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 19/09/2006 09:48

thanks for the ideas - I'll check back later to tell you how I'm doing!!! Must go and do some more of those 'chores'..........not to mention get DS2 dressed

It will encourage the development of his Motor Skills. Youre doing him a favour

mellow - Red Bull is cr*p - I've bought some before for when I'm tired at work - and it never makes any difference!!!!!

Doing ok so far - just put another load of washing in the machine, been doing some route planning for DH (he does my ironing - I do his route planning). Managed to give DS2 some chopped apple - so not totally neglecting him........besides CBeebies is doing a great job of entertaining him .

About to stick the first load of washing on the line, make DS1's bed then finish of this route planning I've been doing (well one 'bit' of it).

Things I definitely need to do before I go out are

Have a shower (I'm not smelly - just need ot 'freshen up')
Feed DS2 his lunch LOL
Get 2nd load of washing on the line
Clean the grill pan

Then one, or more, of the following:

Hoover downstairs, mops floors, tidy on top of piano, clean dining room table (yesterday I managed to clear it off - now it needs a clean...), can't remember the other stuff off hand LOL.

espresso coffee, sugary breakfast cereal, sweets - drink lots of water as well

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 19/09/2006 11:06

mmmmmmmm sweets! I'd forgotten the boys stash of sweets hidden away !!!!!! thanks

I used to find that a cocktail of black coffee, Red Bull and Pro-Plus worked reasonably well - topped off with a couple of handfuls of chocolate covered coffee beans and some Lucozade lozenges.

Be prepared to feel a bit "manic" though

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 19/09/2006 12:01

Right - I'm making progress -

All washing now on the line.
DS2 in bed, and most importantly FED!
DS1's bed made

Now need to either eat something or have a shower........

OP posts:
HRHQueenOfQuotes · 19/09/2006 13:36

woohoo - nearly made it to the staff meeting!

Had my shower - haven't washed the grill pan yet though.......that can wait until I get back. Only another 7 or so hours before I can go to bed

OP posts:
milward · 19/09/2006 22:37

Hope you managed to get some rest after all the staying awake remedies!

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 20/09/2006 10:10

thanks milward - finally got to bed (and sleep) at 9pm - the boys took ages going to sleep and as I didn't know how late DH was going to be didn't want to go to sleep until the DS's were asleep.

Feeling ok this morning.

mysonsmummy · 20/09/2006 10:17

Lucybug · 20/09/2006 10:27

ginmummy · 20/09/2006 10:41
