i got a hoover and its got a big drum , very economically, lots of programmes short and long, and uses water based on weight of clothes in the drum. will check for model

I would say AVOID Zanussi or Hotpoint, we've had no end of trouble with them in the past.

I do think for heavy duty appliances like washing machines and tumble driers that cost a lot to repair, then it's worth spending the money on a better quality, longer lasting brand in the long run. Something like Miele (prolly the best to go for, but a significant price hike), AEG or Bosch.

If you get it delivered - watch out for the super cheap places who then won't dispose of your old one. Find out how much the local council will charge you to dispose of it to check if it's really a good deal. Several times we've found Currys et al to be cheaper once disposal costs were factored in.
