In an attempt to turn around the mood - I for one need cheering up.

I'll start.

Whilst in the bath on millenium eve DP created a 'bed of nakedness' in the lounge out of duvets pillows & cushions. It was surrounded by candles, wine & chocs. It had just 1 obvious rule. It lead to us doing it a number of times & we even missed big ben . It doesn't sound overly romantic but it was. It is about the only thing romtely romantic he has every done though...

When Dh and I were first together I had to go away travelling for a month. He gave me two envelopes with dates on them. In the envelopes were folded pieces of paper with a date on each one for every day I was away. Each paper said I love you because...and a different reason. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh. Now of course I'm lucky if I get a kiss when he gets in the door once the children have launched themselves at him

When dh and I first lived together, I moved away from my family and I had transfered work places.
He sent me a gorgeous bunch of flowers on my first day as he was away.
I loved that.

for my birthday (we'd only known each other a couple of weeks) he sent a motorcycle courier to my house with present (probably done more romantic things but that one sticks in my head!)

very nice 2plus! DH proposed to me on the that evening

He also sent me flowers before we went on our first date saying how much he was looking forward to it

Blandmum · 17/09/2006 17:52

Arrived outside my lab door while I was working, a day before I was expecting him to visit, with a single red rose.

He still often buys me flowers, after 19 years!

When he was away over xmas, be bought me 5 presents to open in the 5 days before xmas, becayuse he knew I would be stressed and upset.

Blandmum · 17/09/2006 17:53

Oh and during Gulf war 1., he wrote to me every day, and there is one letter that I can't think about, even now without crying.

I'm filling up, as I write this!

Blondilocks · 17/09/2006 18:17

OHs done lots of things When he was away in USA for 3 months an unexpected massive bouquet of flowers turned up & the last flower was still surviving by the time he came home!

More recently he made me a compilation CD & sneaked in a couple of "our" songs from when we first got together.

I also get lots of sweet texts & calls.

MB - no crying allowed on this thread please!?!?!?!?

One Valentines Day my DH cooked a dinner including hand-cut heart-shaped chips...unfortunately the oil caught fire so the atmosphere was slightly ruined but the thought...

2plus2plus1 · 17/09/2006 21:02

At least he made the effort FT.

There must be more tales of romance out there.

Oh 2plus yours sounds great fun, assume it was pre-kids?
I actually won my DH the title of most romantic male on the South Coast by mistake (it was a joke that got out of hand) for buying me some fuses for my computer plug. For such a non-standard entry, the prize was sadly a cheesey limo ride, meal out in a noisy bar and we had to see an awful movie called 'Don't go breaking my heart.' We left early and emptied the minibar in the limo. We were stalked by journos for a few days and I was on the radio too, having to make stuff up because it was so not-newsworthy

WideWebWitch · 17/09/2006 21:35

dh does lovely things for me

before we lived together, one valentine's day he posted 33 hand cut out hearts through my letterbox at 8am
then brought a rose round and put Champagne in my fridge while I was out at lunchtime
then came round and cooked me dinner later

Walked round every cafe in town to find me to give me a rose and a kiss when he knew I was upset and having a bad day just after my dad had died

Used to run me a candlelit bath, have dinner in the oven and hand me a cold glass of white wine as I walked in on Friday nights having worked away all week and driven 1,200 miles

Regularly takes the children so I can have a lie in/read a book and then brings me breakfast in bed

Just thinks about me and my happiness a lot and is a lovely husband and father, that's the really romantic thing. We did quite a lot of sitting on beaches with a bottle of wine when we lived in Devon too.

2plus2plus1 · 17/09/2006 21:36

Erm yes definately pre kids. Surprised it was more than 9 months pre kids .

WWW you don't fancy giving him up do you?

WideWebWitch · 17/09/2006 21:42

2p2p1, nope!

Bucketsofdinosaurs · 17/09/2006 21:46

Something about sleeping on the floor that's romantic isn't it? We just had the mattress after we moved house for the first week or so until the new bed arrived and there was something really magical and fun about it.

2plus2plus1 · 17/09/2006 21:58

Didn't do much sleeping

One year we were going to a works do with my parents, we had to drive there so i thought i would wear a pair of heeled sandals.
Well it was snowing and we couldnt get there so turned back and went to the pub. Because we had been drinking and the snow, we had to walk home.
Needless to say my feet were going numb, and it was quite painful!

So my DP took his shoes and socks off, gave them to me and had to run home barefoot in the snow!

That was a few years ago, i dont think he would do it now!!

Envy
pointydog · 18/09/2006 19:41

That made me laugh, 2plus. A man - romantic - bed of nakedness.

pointydog · 18/09/2006 20:23

You know, I've been thinking and I can't think of anything more romantic than a bunch of flowers.

But wait till I mention 'bed of nakedness' to dh. I'll be getting romanced twice a week!
